Focused pressure techniques to release tight muscle knots and restore natural movement.
Trigger point therapy targets tight, sensitive muscle spots that can cause referred pain. By applying focused pressure, our chiropractors help release tension, improve movement, and reduce discomfort. Combined with other manual techniques, it supports faster recovery and better muscle performance.
Trigger point therapy focuses on relieving tight, sensitive spots within muscles that can cause local or referred pain. These points often develop from poor posture, overuse, stress, or injury, and can restrict normal movement. At Our Chiro Brisbane, trigger point therapy is used to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and restore comfortable motion as part of an integrated treatment plan.
During treatment, gentle sustained pressure is applied to the affected areas to relax the contracted muscle fibres and encourage blood flow. This helps reduce pain, restore flexibility, and support normal muscle function. The approach is precise and adapted to the individual’s tolerance, often producing a noticeable release or reduction in tightness.
Trigger point therapy may assist with:
It can be used on its own or alongside other therapies such as manual adjustment, soft-tissue release, or exercise rehabilitation.
At Our Chiro Brisbane, trigger point therapy supports recovery by targeting the muscular component of pain, allowing joints and surrounding tissues to move freely and efficiently. This contributes to lasting improvements in comfort, posture, and performance.

Trigger Point Therapy is a soft tissue technique where a series of isolated pressure and release are techniques used to reduce pain or “knot” within the muscle.
Trigger Point Therapy can help to relieve pain, increase range of motion, and improve muscle function.
Our Chiro uses a variety of methods to provide Trigger Point Therapy, including manual pressure, massage, electrical stimulation and dry needling.
During your Trigger Point Therapy session with Our Chiro, your practitioner will examine you to identify the source of your pain and trigger points. Once the trigger points are located, the practitioner will use a combination of soft tissue techniques to reduce the pain within the trigger point.
The number of Trigger Point Therapy sessions you will need will depend on the condition being treated.
Trigger Point Therapy can be tender and you may feel some discomfort during the trigger point release. Your practitioner team will work with you to ensure that you are comfortable during your entire session.
You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your Trigger Point Therapy session, we also have patient gowns available.

Trigger Point Therapy focuses on identifying and releasing areas of muscle tension known as “trigger points.” These are small, tight bands within a muscle that can feel tender to touch and may contribute to referred discomfort in other parts of the body. In chiropractic care, Trigger Point Therapy is often used alongside spinal adjustments or soft tissue work to help restore muscle function and improve movement.
When muscles are overused, injured, or kept in prolonged positions (such as sitting at a desk), they can develop localised knots that restrict circulation and cause stiffness. These points may also interfere with normal muscle activation, leading to imbalances that affect posture and joint mechanics. By applying firm, sustained pressure to the affected areas, Trigger Point Therapy helps relax the muscle fibres, enhance blood flow, and support the release of built-up tension.
Many people describe a “release” sensation as the pressure eases the tightness. This process can help improve flexibility, reduce sensitivity, and promote smoother, more efficient movement patterns. In some cases, it may also help relieve secondary discomfort, such as tension headaches or shoulder tightness caused by poor posture.
Within a chiropractic setting, Trigger Point Therapy can be applied manually or with specialised tools. The treatment is often combined with stretching, mobility work, or strengthening exercises to reinforce the improvements achieved during the session.
While results can vary, regular attention to muscle tension through Trigger Point Therapy may help support a healthier musculoskeletal system and enhance the benefits of chiropractic care. By releasing areas of restriction and restoring muscle balance, it encourages better posture, improved range of motion, and a more comfortable daily experience.

What does a chiropractor do? A chiropractor diagnoses and treats musculoskeletal conditions, which involve the joints, muscles, and neural tissue throughout the body. Chiropractors typically use adjustments to help restore joint function and relieve pressure on surrounding tissues.
We commonly see patients with headaches, migraines, back pain, neck pain, mid-thoracic pain, knee pain, or shoulder pain—often from sport or postural issues.
During a typical consultation, you’ll come in for a medical history review, followed by an orthopaedic examination and, if needed, a neurological exam. We’ll then perform a physical assessment to identify the cause of your condition. Imaging such as X-rays or MRI scans may be requested, usually through an external provider.
Treatment often includes gentle adjustments or joint mobilisations to restore movement and reduce pain. We may also use other therapies such as dry needling, Kinesio taping, rigid taping, or soft tissue work as part of your care plan.
